www.occatholic.com/sharing-grace/ The Montessori Method of education, developed by Maria Montessori, is a child-centered educational approach based on scientific observations of children. Montessori's method has been used for over 100 years in many parts of the world.
The Montessori method views the child as one who is naturally eager for knowledge and capable of initiating learning in a supportive, thoughtfully prepared learning environment. It attempts to develop children physically, socially, emotionally and cognitively. A "discovery" model, where students learn concepts from working with materials, rather than by direct instruction.
We believe that the future student would be the student who is creative, and independent mind. Yet, s/he would be eager to collaborate to build world communities with compassion.
Currently and in the past, we build Montessori classrooms, supported Montessori trainings, and bought Montessori products in to support our Montessori initiatives in Viet Nam. Our initiatives would focus on rural areas of poor students and special needs of children. We collaborate with sisters from progressive convents to develop effective Montessori initiatives with goals toward professional standards by the the American Montessori Society (AMS). Our initiatives have been at Da Nang, Hong Linh, Thu Duc, Van Loc, Thai Dinh and Ha Noi.
Please contribute to our current ongoing project at the preschool of Thai Binh for children from 1 to 6 years old. The name of the school is Binh Minh or Sunrise school administered by the Dominican Sisters of Thai Binh.
We also support the development of special needs children in Viet Nam. Your contribution would be sent to the Montessori either in Da Nang (Thanh Tam school), or Hong Linh school administered by the sisters of St. Paul Chartres.
Name of the initiative: Thanh Tam or Hong Linh School.
